These handy homemade air conditioners can be made from any Styrofoam cooler sold for around $4 or around 180 pesos. The dryer vents that you'll also need cost around $2 or less than 100 pesos a pop. Add to that the frozen bottles of water that make this nifty cooler actually work, and you've got the cheapest and simplest solution to keeping cool in the hottest months.

If you load the cooler with frozen bottles, the cooler will last anywhere from three to six hours, which gives you enough time to have another set of bottles freezing in the interim. This is great for single rooms on hot days, and it will drop the overall temperature of the room quite a bit.
