WATCH: 2-Year-Old Boy Survives Shocking Fall From Escalator Handrail

Children playing around on escalators is never a good idea and the video above proves just how dangerous it can be.

The 2-year-old boy in this video falls from the top of a shopping mall escalator in a chinese shopping center and lands on the floor below.

As seen in the surveillance video footage, the young boy was apparently playing and running around with a older boy. The older boy made it to the escalator and used the steps to safely travel down to the bottom.

The 2-year-old boy followed the other child to the escalator, but did not hop on one of the steps. Instead, he grabbed hold of the hand railing of the escalator. At first, it seems as if the young boy had a firm grip on the railing until it raised him towards the top of the slope and over the edge.


Shopkeepers and the nearby public was shocked as the boy dropped to the floor, but it was not long before a boy and many others rushed over to see if he was okay.

One man, who is believed to be the two-year-old's father, raced down the escalator from which he fell.

There are reports that the toddler is now recovering, after several days of life-saving efforts.
