American boxer Floyd Mayweather is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today

He won three national Golden Gloves and an Olympic bronze medal in 1996, and became a professional boxer that same year. In 2007 he defeated Oscar De La Hoya for the WBC super welterweight crown and was considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Unfortunately, he retired in 2008, but returned to the ring in September 2009 and won a bout against Juan Manuel Marquez by unanimous decision, for a purse of nearly $60 million. Eight months later, he won a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley in Las Vegas.

The triumphs and paychecks just energized Mayweather's now tough personality. In a game based on grandiosity, he has ended up being one of boxing's most polarizing figures.

The most exciting and probably the most expensive match will finally happen on May 2. Undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr. and 8-time division champ Manny Pacquiao will square off at MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

However, Mayweather ran his mouth again ensuring a Knock out by the fifth round or less.
He expressed, "Look, if Marquez knocked Pacquiao out like that in the sixth, then I guarantee I’ll have him out by the fifth because I beat Marquez like a Slave. He’s not getting up, Jim. He’s not getting up."

Floyd then went ahead to talk about his arrangements to retire after the bout. This means there will be no rematch happening after May 2nd.

Liam Neeson to Pacquiao: Give Me 2 Tickets Buddy!

liam-neeson

Taken Star Liam Neeson believes that Manny Pacquiao will hand Floyd Mayweather Jr. his first-ever loss.

"I'm definitely in Manny's camp. I want him to beat this guy (Mayweather)," said Neeson in a report by Don Tagala of ABS-CBN News North America.

"This could be (similar to) the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier battle of 1971," he added.

Neeson broadly loaned his voice to Pacquiao's narrative, "Manny: The Movie," which was released recently.

The 62-year-old on-screen character took the chance to approach Pacquiao for extra tickets in what numerous accept as the wealthiest confining match history.

"Manny, Two tickets, buddy, two tickets."

The appeal of Neeson is a long shot as Top Rank boss Bob Arum said in a report that there would be no free tickets this time as Mayweather's camp is in control.

Tickets to the Pacquiao-Mayweather battle are relied upon to be rare, and profoundly extravagant. Introductory appraisals have pegged ringside seats to cost from $1000  to $5,000

5 Reasons Why Floyd Mayweather Can Beat Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, boxing, welterweight (Source:roundbyroundboxing.com)

Let's get it on! The long-awaited mega fight will finally happen this coming May 2nd 2015. Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr., who’s considered the Best Fighter In The World today will face People's Champ Manny Pacquiao, with their welterweight title belts on the line. Both considered as part of the best pound for pound fighters, they will show their skills on the ring FINALLY against each other. Boxing fans can't wait who will emerge victorious among these two living legends. We are all dying to witness the battle of the best defensive fighter against the best offensive fighter in  boxing history today.

The debate of who's going to win will go on until the big day comes, and we have recently pointed out 5 Reasons Why Manny Pacquiao Can Beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, we cannot deny that Mayweather has his own strengths that just might lead him to victory. Here's 5 of it:

1. Floyd is now confident he can beat Manny and this is for his legacy.

Honestly, if this fight happened a lot earlier, Manny will probably KO Floyd. However, at present, Floyd knows Manny now is not the Manny Pacquiao 5 years ago. Since 2010, Pacquiao has lost to Timothy Bradley and was knocked out by JMM in 2012. Mayweather was always 100% sure that Pacquiao will eventually slow down and become more hittable. It happened and now he believed that this is the right time to fight him. Because of this, he is now confident that will be no way pacquiao canwin against him. He also knows that if he will retire without facing his rival, even if he's undefeated, boxing fans will still question his career.

2. Manny Pacquiao is weak against counter punchers.

We all know that Manny Pacquiao had a hard time fighting counter punchers. Especially Juan Manuel Marquez who was able to finally get a victory over Manny in 2012. Pacquiao had the judges in his first three fights until Marquez decided to take the judges out of the picture completely in their fourth fight by connecting a solid right counter punch on Manny Pacquiao's chin that put him to sleep. Now that he will fight Floyd who is a way better counter puncher than Juan Manuel Marquez, what do you think will happen? I believe you already know the answer.

3. Floyd Mayweather has the best defense.

Floyd Mayweather has won most of his 47 professional fights by using his  famous shoulder roll defense that his father taught him when he was just starting out in boxing. Though there is still no guarantee that it will work against a southpaw like Pacquiao, we believed that Floyd can still win because he has a better reflex and knows how to avoid danger.

4. Floyd won every single fight.

Floyd have faced different fighters and have won each time. Whatever the size of his opponent is, whatever style they have, Floyd will just adapt to it and win in the end. This is why he is still unbeaten after 47 fights. Manny Pacquiao is a great boxer with very strong punching power, however Floyd can adapt to this style, dodge every punch, do counter punches. Going through to the 12th round alone, might just cut it for Mayweather.

5. Floyd  is a smarter fighter than Manny Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao is easy to hit as he is quite open when throwing his punches.  Floyd Mayweather, who has a very high boxing IQ will just take advantage when this happens. He knows this too well that he will just avoid when he's in trouble and attack when he eventually has the advantage. Works for him every time.

My conclusion is still just a mere theory until they actually fight in the ring. This is just my opinion and  if you think Manny can beat Floyd, check out are previous article:

Then again, I must say, there’s only one way to find out.
